Nancy Dering Mock

Nancy Dering Mock is a vibrant speaker, entrepreneur, government executive, church and community leader, mentor and author. She is a Woman of Purpose! She is currently the author of two blogs: “Restoring Humanity to Human Enterprise,” focusing on instilling, exemplifying and evoking the very best of what it means to be human; and “He Restores My Soul,” a series of Christian devotions designed for individuals and groups seeking comfort and peace.

Nancy’s beginnings were not a good indicator of the journey and life she has been living. She recalls being a freshman in college and nearly failing her Speech 101 class because when it was her time to speak - she froze! She often reflects that if someone had told her then that she would spend a major part of her adult life speaking in front of groups, she would never have believed it. The sought-after speaker and presenter also serves on a variety of boards, foundations, and commissions. She credits her success with being open to and seizing opportunities for discovering her gifts and trying out things, even when afraid.

She is a wife, mother of three, grandmother of five, daughter and sister. Along with her cherished family, she is fortunate to have a wide circle of friends and colleagues who have encouraged her along the way. She, in turn, has been mentor to dozens of people, mostly women, over the past forty years.  For Nancy, leaving a legacy of future leaders has been a calling of great importance.

Now in her 70’s, Nancy tried to “retire” seven years ago and learned that retirement is not for her. She continues her consulting practice and regularly engages in community service. “How will I use my gifts for good?” is the personal challenge that she has maintained. With this question in mind, she has dedicated her life and God-given gifts to inspire and challenge others into leading lives of purpose, fulfillment and service. In Pennsylvania, and now in Florida, she has shared her gifts for leadership, strategy and change with organizations devoted to changing lives. Nancy feels blessed to be leading such a life and is grateful for the many opportunities to share her gifts for good.  As Nancy often reminds herself and others, “What we do for ourselves dies with us.  What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.”
