Shannon Shelly
Shannon Shelly is a dedicated, courageous, determined wife, mother and a resilient woman of strong faith. She currently serves as the director of the Dream House, a ministry in Harrisburg, PA that provides housing for young ladies who have aged out of the foster care system.
After years of working in inner city ministry, the Pennsylvania native and her husband felt called to live in Harrisburg and call it their community. They wanted to establish a residential ministry and see lasting change come to those in their community. After attending an informational foster care meeting, they became aware of the staggering statistics surrounding those who age out of the system. That is where the vision for the
Dream House was birthed.
Shannon and her husband then purchased and renovated a duplex and organized the unique living arrangement. Their family will reside on one side and the young ladies will reside on the other side of the Dream House. Shannon feels purposed to minister to young ladies who haven’t been cared for and haven’t been able to experience love and support around them. She is committed to spreading the love of Jesus Christ and is willing that He use her life the way He designed to strengthen those around her.
The road from the dream to the Dream House was not a smooth one as many problems arose during the renovations process. However, the Shellys pushed forward knowing that the vision was greater than any obstacle they would face. God supplied all their needs through an outpouring of support from family, friends, local businesses and their church community. The renovations were not completed in the timeline
they laid out, but God’s timing proved to be best. Shannon shared that God took her on a journey of trusting Him as He called her to pray and to believe.
Shannon looks forward to greater wisdom, confidence and influence as she continues her ministry journey. She anticipates seeing the fruit of the seeds they are planting now in the Dream House as they disciple the young ladies to live full lives. Presently, there is one young lady living in the Dream House.
